The University of West Georgia offers a new master’s degree in digital communication and social media to help professionals advance their skills and expand their career opportunities.

The University of West Georgia offers a new master’s degree in digital communication and social media to help professionals advance their skills and expand their career opportunities.

The program is now open for enrollment and will begin classes in fall 2022.

The degree aims to provide aspiring practitioners and working professionals with the tools to advance their careers or pursue higher education. This is the first graduate program to be offered in the brand new School of Communication, Film and Media.

“We created this program to serve professionals who want to broaden their skills, refresh their skills, or add new complementary skills to their existing experience,” said Dr. Brad Yates, Professor and Dean of the School of Communication, Film and media. “Our faculty is excited to have a program that will expand social and digital media communications knowledge for students to better understand and adapt to the ever-changing emerging media marketplace while embracing the entrepreneurial spirit needed to stand out in today’s crowded digital/social media environment.”

Courses include content creation, analytics, and strategic communication. The degree requires 30 credit hours and can be completed entirely online, with in-person electives also offered.

UWG’s new curriculum is designed to equip students with specialist knowledge and skills that will create opportunities in areas such as:

• Audio/video editor, podcast and YouTube creator

• Coordinator/Digital Asset Manager

• Digital Content Manager

• Digital media specialist

• Multimedia journalist/reporter

• Senior Manager, Podcast Growth Development

• Social Media Analyst

• TikTok Content Creator
