Amazon is likely testing a TikTok-like feed on its app, report says

In a bid to drive more engagement on its platform, tech giant Amazon is likely testing a TikTok-like vertical photo and video feed in its in-house app.

According to photos provided by Watchful, an AI product platform, to The Wall Street Journal, the feed, currently called “Inspire,” will appear in the bottom navigation bar of the Amazon app, TechCrunch reports.

“We’re constantly testing new features to make customers’ lives a little bit easier,” an Amazon spokesperson said.

When users tap the diamond icon, they’ll see posts on the feed, which will include links to buy all the items featured in the post, according to the report.

According to the report, this is not the first time that Amazon has followed the same tactic as major social apps. It even has Posts, an Instagram copy feature, as part of its advertising tools.

It’s unclear if this feature will eventually roll out to the Amazon app, as companies often test feature ideas internally, though some may never ship to the public.

With the new pacifier, the e-commerce giant has joined like-minded companies including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, and more.
