The new buds have the same design as the OG AirPods Pro, but now come in an improved case that’s IPX4-resistant like the buds themselves and will be able to withstand sweat and light rain. The case also has a lanyard loop and Apple has fitted it with the U1 chip and a speaker so it’s easy to find if you lose it.
The second generation AirPods Pro are powered by the new H2 chip which makes them better in noise cancellation and also improves the transparency model and spatial audio.
The buds have double the noise canceling power of the previous model and the best part is that you don’t have to play audio to block out the world around you. Transparency mode – which lets outside sound in so you’re not completely oblivious to what’s going on, so that, for example, you can hear that bus coming your way – can now reduce loud sudden noises such as a siren or loudspeaker so that your ear is not exposed to unexpected harsh sounds.
The AirPods Pro 2 also feature a new audio driver and custom amplifier and deliver impressive sound quality. Four sizes of ear tips ensure a secure fit.
The headphones and case combined provide 30 hours of playtime with active noise cancellation. Both wireless and wired charging are supported.
The AirPods Pro 2 are a solid upgrade from the latest buds and are particularly suitable for commuters and those who just want to spend some time in noisy environments. Apple sells them for $249 but Amazon currently offers them for $234, so you’ll save $15. It’s a 6% discount and considering the buds were only released two months ago, we’re lucky to get any discount at all, but act fast as they’re bound to fly off the shelves fast .
