RIYADH, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) — Chinese telecommunications company China Mobile International (CMI) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding to advance the digital media ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.
The signing ceremony was held in the Saudi capital of Riyadh between the Chinese company and the Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA), Saudi Cloud Computing Company (SCCC) and Whale Cloud.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the parties will collaborate to provide smart digital media solutions, including digital media, data centers and cloud services, the SBA said.
During the signing ceremony, the CMI presented its digital media solutions, including TV set-top boxes and applications suitable for the SBA.
SBA CEO, Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Harthy, highlighted SBA’s commitment to creating a world-class media service and content platform, using best practices from the global media industry to provide world-class digital information services.
CMI’s industry expertise, cutting-edge technologies and rich experience will help the media industry achieve its vision of digital transformation, he added.
For his part, Alex Lee, Managing Director of CMI Middle East, said the company continues to improve its investments in network infrastructure in the Middle East region.
Calling the SBA an “important partner,” Lee said the joint project will set a benchmark for the digital transformation of the media industry, adding that “we would encourage more projects with influential social and economic benefits.”
CMI is committed to building a global ecosystem of technology partners, and its cooperation with the SCCC and Whale Cloud has demonstrated the strength of this ecosystem in depth, Lee added.
