The Jio Institute has appointed Professor Guruswami Ravichandran of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) as Founding Provost and Professor of Engineering, in line with strengthening its academic leadership team. Ravichandran will join the Jio Institute on July 1, 2022.
Ravinchandran holds a Ph.D. in Engineering and a Masters in Engineering, both from Brown University, USA, and holds a BE (Honours) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Regional Engineering College ( NIT), Trichy. From 2015 to 2021, Ravichandran served as the Otis Booth Professor of Leadership in Caltech’s Engineering and Applied Sciences Division. He was also the
director of the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories of the California Institute of Technology (GALCIT) from 2009 to 2015.
Jio Institute also announced admissions to its Postgraduate Certificate (PG) programs in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and Digital Media and Marketing Communications. These are full-time, one-year programs and will be delivered by scholars from global universities and industry thought leaders. The programs will be offered from the Jio Institute campus in Navi Mumbai. Applicants applying to the programs must have a minimum of 50% or CGPA equivalent in a bachelor’s degree and at least 18 months of work experience. Jio Institute also offers scholarships of up to 100% on tuition fees to deserving candidates.
