Township of Delta. The Amazon fulfillment center is 4 months behind schedule

DELTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Construction of mid-Michigan’s first Amazon fulfillment center in Delta Township is well underway, but the project is already four months behind schedule.

Delta Township Superintendent Brian Reed said the construction schedule was “very aggressive.”

“They have their structure, their structural steel, on the outside there are footings,” Reed said. “They are currently working on their wall panels and interior steel.”

Construction of the facility at the corner of Creyts Road and West Mount Hope Highway began last fall and was expected to be completed in August. It should now be finished in December.

“People are very excited at Delta right now because we have so much development going on and so many big plans,” Reed said. “Lots of future jobs and right now a lot of construction jobs.”

Reed said the investment was over $100 million. The 1 million square foot facility is expected to create between 500 and 1,000 jobs.

Jessica Pawl, field communications manager at Amazon, said the company has no updates at this time other than that the project is ongoing.
