Vice President/General Manager – KPRC

Graham Media Group (“GMG”) is currently seeking a Vice President and General Manager (“GM”) for its KPRC/Houston Media Center. The Vice President/General Manager will report to the President/General Manager and is responsible for the entire KPRC 2 media hub, which includes the NBC affiliate in Houston, as well as the digital subchannels and all related websites (Click2Houston. com), streaming offers and applications. . The station is located in the 8th largest US market, reaching just under 2.5 million TV households and operates major news-related web and mobile sites in the state. The successful candidate must be a dynamic leader with a strong work ethic and the highest standards of integrity. Candidate must also have demonstrated leadership ability to grow both broadcast and digital audience and customer base while driving bottom line results.

Areas of intervention :

News and programming – Excellent understanding and success in working with a diverse news team. Experience in developing strong and successful newscasts, from a viewer/user and cost perspective. Knowledge and ability to negotiate presenter/talent contracts and syndicated programming contracts. Primary contact with NBC for affiliate relations.

TV and digital media sales – Ability to lead the station’s sales management team, including but not limited to an in-depth understanding of Nielsen and Comscore ratings, inventory management and sales pricing, marketing, collaboration with the national representative firm and overall client relations.

Engineering computer Science – Experience with capital budgets, long-term capital forecasting and general station facility needs. Comprehensive understanding of plant physical issues, information gathering equipment, and general industry trends.

Creative Services – Experience in branding, marketing and social media for the station and its execution on all platforms. Overall understanding of promotional plans and campaigns for local/network programming in addition to production budgets and external media.

Company – Experience in developing, reviewing and understanding monthly station operating results, operating budgets and forecasts (monthly and three-year projections). Ability to present station budget and related financial information to GMG Corporate in an organized and thorough manner.

Station staff – Proven leadership and interpersonal skills required with a demonstrated track record as an empathetic and forward-looking individual. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.

Community – Ability to work closely with a vibrant and diverse local community and special interest groups to understand how the station can best meet their needs. Community experience is essential.

Innovation – Develop strategic plans and operational plans for station growth in cross-platform content delivery and revenue generation that aligns with the local brand. Encourage innovation at all levels of the organization.

College degree in a related field strongly preferred.

Previous experience as a general manager required.

Overall – must have an unwavering passion for local TV and digital media.
